CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the tenth time, the Charlotte Knights held "Negro Leagues Night" at Truist Field.
The team paid homage to the Charlotte Hornets with throwback uniforms, honoring the Negro Leagues team that played in the city from the 1910s to the 1950s.
The Knights also welcomed former Negro Leagues player and Rock Hill native, Wali Cathcart.
The team's bench coach also has a special connection to the Negro Leagues.
Pat Listach's grandfather, Nora Listach, played in the Negro Leagues.
"My grandfather used to tell me stories of his travels barnstorming through the Negro Leagues," Listach said. "And the things he could and couldn't do, and places he could and couldn't go. It's a sad story, but a great story. He taught me everything I know about baseball."
