CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Hornets unveiled the team's new center-hung scoreboard Friday.
The Hornets say their new scoreboard is, "one of the biggest and highest-quality boards in NBA," and that, "the two sideline boards are the tallest in the NBA at 25.2' high x 42.8 wide."
The board is in an effort to provide Hornet fans with the best visual experience possible.
"The open-faced structure allows fans to see through to the scoreboard's 'hive'" and in addition to being a sophisticated structure, "the scoreboard serves as an artistic expression that represents the home of the Hornets," they said.
The Hornet's first home game of the season will be on Thursday, October 6 against the Boston Celtics at the Greensboro Coliseum. They will play at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Monday, October 10 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
