Christian McCaffrey has awkward Twitter moment with Greg Olsen

(USA TODAY) -- Christian McCaffrey may be the most electrifying rookie in the history of the NFL for all we know. He’s still a rookie and has to go through the ritual humiliations they all do.

McCaffrey has been singing and carrying shoulder pads for older players throughout camp and he’s getting ribbed on social media too.

On Friday night Panthers tight end Greg Olsen shared an old photo of himself on Twitter, which bares a striking resemblance to McCaffrey. Olsen claimed to be Christian McCaffrey before there was one.

A short time later, McCaffrey saw Olsen’s tweet and responded with an earnest question, wondering if he is, in fact, his real father:

Well played, rookie.

While there are some suspicious similarities between the two, we can confirm Olsen is not McCaffrey’s dad.

Ed McCaffrey played wide receiver mostly for the New York Giants and Denver Broncos from 1991-2003. He finished out his pro career with 565 catches, 7,422 yards and 55 touchdowns.

Christian clearly inherited his abilities as a receiver. At least at the start of his career, McCaffrey will be used mostly as a scatback and wide receiver on offense, at least until Jonathan Stewart hangs it up or gets injured. McCaffrey was seen going through drills with Carolina’s wideouts during yesterday’s training camp practice.
