BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. â Gardner-Webb has tabbed Cris Reisert as its next head football coach.
The 37-year-old was introduced on campus, Thursday, after wrapping up a successful tenure as head coach of Tiffin University in Ohio.
At the D2 program, Reisert was responsible for leading the program to its first-ever trips to the NCAA playoffs in 2019 and 2023.
Reisert also won conference championships in three of his five seasons, going 40-11 overall.
He takes over a program that saw unprecedented sucess under former coach, Tre Lamb, who left for ETSU.
Lamb led the Runnin' Bulldogs to two-straight conference titles and berths in the FCS Playoffs.
Reisert not only wants to continue that success, he wants to parlay it into a national championship.
"I don't know why we can't," Reisert said. "There might be people that laugh at it. I took the job because I think the resources are present and they're going to continue to elevate to allow us to do that."
Reisert also handled offensive playcalling duties at Tiffin, where his unit was sixth in the country last year, averaging 43.7 points per game.
