CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- West Charlotte High School named Daren Hart head football coach Friday, bringing Hart back to where he started his career in the late 90s.
Hart was given the opportunity following the resignation of Andrew Jordan earlier this week. Hart is the third coach for the Lions following the death of Mo Collins in October.
In 1998, Hart got his coaching career started at West Charlotte under the great Tom Knotts. He was a defensive backs assistant, where his coaching prowess gave him opportunities to coach at the collegiate level. He comes back to the high school ranks after a five year stint as defensive coordinator at Winston-Salem State.
The once great West Charlotte program has fallen on tough times as of late, with the school posting a 10-35 record over the last four seasons. The Lions last had a winning record in 2010 going 8-5.
