CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Harold Varner III, a professional golfer and Gastonia local, is facing a DWI charge after being arrested in Charlotte on Thursday.
According to the police citation, Varner was arrested in Uptown while driving on Providence Road. Varner was given a $500 bond and his next court date is set for Jan. 19, 2024.
Varner, a 33-year-old winner on the PGA tour, was born in Ohio and raised in the Charlotte area. He is currently a prominent player on the Saudi-backed LIV tour.
In 2021, Varner played in the Wells Fargo Championship in front of his hometown crowd.
