Former Carolina Panther Greg Hardy turned over his weapons after he was arrested on domestic violence charges last year.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office told NBC Charlotte:
Mr. Hardy's attorney sent a letter to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) dated February 25, 2015 relinquishing all the weapons to Sheriff Irwin Carmichael and the MCSO. These guns and others seized by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office remain safe and secure. By court order, the weapons will be sold/auctioned at a later date to be determined.
Hardy was ordered to surrender his weapons, which were part of the domestic violence investigation. Police said he threw his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, onto a futon covered in guns, including rifles and shotguns.
The case against Hardy, now a Dallas Cowboy, was dismissed.
