After working tirelessly through four years of high school football, it's the day many players have looked forward to since first putting on a helmet and shoulder pads.
Wednesday marked the first day of the NCAA's early signing period for football players. Now in its second year, the early signing period allows recruits to sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and end their recruitment.
Players also have the option to sign on National Signing Day, which is the first Wednesday in February. The early signing period runs for three days through Friday, December 21.
According to 247 Sports, about 80 percent of committed prospects signed during the inaugural early period last year.
