Here are the games we're covering this week:

Independence vs. West Charlotte

Is The Big I back?

They're getting closer.

Independence improved to 3-0 with a 28-7 win over West Charlotte on Friday night.

The Patriots got things rolling with a Sincere McIntyre touchdown which featured a sensational cutback for the score.

Then Independence had a little fun, handing it to defensive tackle Khalil Hoke, who barreled into the end zone to make it 14-0.

The Lions made it a game, but the Patriots capped off the victory with a pick-six by Josh Iseah.

Coach DJ McFadden was pleased with where his team is headed.

"I told these guys before the game, Independence, that "I is a winning brand," McFadden said. "No matter what's happened the last four, or five, or six years, that's in them."

FINAL SCORE

Independence - 28

West Charlotte - 7

Providence Day School vs. Charlotte Catholic

Providence Day also improved to 3-0 on Friday night, but not without a tough test.

The Chargers were on the road for the first time, and Catholic played a very Cougars-like first half, running the ball and owning the clock.

With a chance to break a scoreless tie in the second quarter, Catholic's field goal attempt was blocked by David Sanders.

But with Providence Day looking to drive and score, QB Jadyn Davis was picked off by Evan Chromy.

However, the Chargers defense stepped up and stopped Catholic at the one on fourth down.

Davis orchestrated a 99-yard drive, highlighted by a long passing play to Jordan Shipp to get inside the 5-yard line.

Soon after, Chris Peal punched it in.

With a blocked PAT, Providence Day took a 6-0 lead into halftime, and won 21-20 in the closing seconds of a wild game.

FINAL SCORE

Providence Day - 21

Charlotte Catholic - 20
