CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two-time defending 4AA state champion Mallard Creek began its quest for a third straight title by rolling over upset-minded East Meck 50-3 on Friday.
The Mavericks came storming out of the gate, pulling out to a 21-0 lead in the first half. East Meck put an end to the shutout with a field goal, but Mallard Creek's defense was too much for the Eagles to overcome.
Mallard Creek will take on Butler next week in a battle of 4AA heavyweights.
