"From taking out the trash," he said, "to making the bed."

He said his trash talking began in family backyard basketball games.

"That's when never accepting losing was instilled in me," said the reigning NFL MVP.

Newton reminisced about starting his first high school game, as a freshman, and fumbling three times.

"Was ready for that moment? I soon found out I wasn't," Newton said. "I blew it."

But the Panthers QB used the experience to become better on the big stage.

"I promised myself, after the tears had dried up that I would never fear a game or moment ever again in my life," Newton said. "I will be the feared."

Newton said he promised Panthers owner Jerry Richardson of his greatness before the team even drafted him No. 1 overall in 2011.

"I stated that there's no doubt in my mind that I will and want to be the greatest football player to ever play this game," Newton recalled. "And I am willing and able to give you every single thing that you want."
