CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Maybe you're looking to set a new personal record. Maybe you're looking to compete against your friends for bragging rights. Maybe you're just looking to get moving. And maybe you're thinking about that beer at the end of the mile.
Whatever it is, organizers say that the first-ever Meck Mile is for you.
On Saturday, May 25, the Charlotte Sports Foundation is putting on the new event, presented by Albemarle.
The run (or walk) will follow a course outside of American Legion Memorial Stadium, going one time around the venue, followed by about a half of a lap and a turn into the stadium.
There, organizers have set up arts and culture, music and dj's, food vendors, a kids zone, concessions and a Legion Beer Garden.
The run will offer different heats for different skillsets: recreational, kids, competitive, elite and even professional.
"I want someone who crosses the finish line to have the same feeling whether it's their first mile or fastest mile. I want a community member who shows up that this is an event built for everyone in Charlotte. It doesn't matter if you're a runner, a walker, a skipper or a hopper, that this is all made for you to celebrate movement and have the best time possible."

QUEEN CITY PARLAY
To take advantage of a busy sports weekend, the Charlotte Sports Foundation is also offering a chance to gamble - well, actually guess - with the brand-new Queen City Parlay.
There are four legs to guess:
- Finishing time for Men's Meck Mile professional race winner
- Finishing time for Women's Meck Mile professional race winner
- Total goals scored in Charlotte FC vs. Philadelphia Union match
- Finishing race time for the Coca-Cola 600 winner
Entries are free, and for every submission, $1 will be donated to Veterans Bridge Home.
