CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte has an unbeaten professional sports team, which is a reason to celebrate.
The Carolina Chaos, part of the traveling Premier Lacrosse League, are 2-0, with their latest win coming at Memorial Stadium in Elizabeth on Friday night.
The PLL has visited Charlotte once every summer for several years as part of a touring schedule, but beginning this year has assigned home cities/regions for each of its squads.
The Chaos was assigned Carolina as its home location last November, and is treating the next few days as a "homecoming weekend."
"This is an area that loves their athletics, and it's easy to see the passion in which they support their local teams," Chaos coach Andy Towers said. "We're very excited to be affiliated with the area."
Defender Jarrod Neumann said there's already a connection between city and team.
"The response from the fans has been great," Neumann said. "They're more than welcoming. I'm just excited to have a home city attached the name for once."
The Chaos will play New York Atlas on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., on ESPN. That game will be followed by a matchup between the Boston Cannons and Maryland Whipsnakes.
A ticket for Saturday provides admission for both games.
