Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to serve as 'College GameDay' guest pickers

Two of NASCAR's personalities will start Saturday at a different racetrack.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Two of NASCAR's personalities will start Saturday at a different racetrack.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Richard Petty will both be part of ESPN's College GameDay on Saturday morning at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Virginia Tech and No. 14 Tennessee play that night.

The Battle of Bristol will be at the same time the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 150,000 fans - a college football record.

Earnhardt will be GameDay's guest picker -- he is out for the season with a concussion and will not race at Richmond -- and Petty will "give his insights of a college football game being played at the half-mile oval," according to a team release.

"I wish I could be there," driver Austin Dillon said Friday ahead of the NASCAR Sprint Cup regular-season finale at Richmond International Raceway. "It will be an awesome, awesome experience. I told some of my buddies they have to go -- and I'd help them out and get some tickets -- just to see what it's going to be like. It's going to be special.

"Maybe one day they can get an NFL game there. I'd love to see the Panthers play there. That would be cool."

College GameDay airs from 9 a.m.-noon ET on ESPN.
