CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR is known for its diehard and passionate fans, and Lisa Asselin is no exception.

She’s a Biddeford, Maine, native with a love for all things NASCAR-- especially the Earnhardt family.

On social media, she’s known as “NASCAR Girl,” and if you take a look at Asselin, you can see the name fits.

Her body is adorned with nine NASCAR tattoos, most of which pay tribute to Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Asselin says she became hooked when she saw her first Earnhardt Sr. race at a young age. The tattoos are passionate illustrations of the sports she grew up watching.

After his tragic death in 2001, Asselin began following Junior and decided it was time to pay tribute to the NASCAR family she loved.

It started as just one tattoo-- an idea to display two cross checkered flags, one for Earnhardt Sr., the other for Earnhardt Jr., and four words. “Gentlemen, start your engines.”

It was a way for Asselin to pay honor to her favorite drivers-- but she didn’t stop there.

Five thousand dollars and nine tattoos later, Asselin may finally be getting close to finished showing her support through the artwork on her body.

She proudly displays all nine tattoos for anyone who is interested. Her favorite? A tribute tattoo for Dale Sr. that covers her entire upper thigh.

For Lisa, the bright colors, detailed pictures and incredibly realistic displays are much more than just tattoos; they’re a way to show that her dedication to NASCAR and the Earnhardt family go much further than just what meets the eye.
