Brandon Miller named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month

The No. 2 pick averaged 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists during January.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Standout rookie Brandon Miller is receiving national attention for his production with the Charlotte Hornets this season.

Miller was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for January. In 13 games during the month, Miller averaged 16.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.

Miller had at least 20 points in six games during January and has evolved to be one of the most productive players on the Hornets this season. Miller's 12 20-point games this season are second only to Victor Wembanyama among rookies.

Against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jan. 22, Miller shot a remarkable 11 of 13 from the field and finished with 27 points as Charlotte pulled off a 128-125 upset.

Miller scored a career-high 29 points against the New York Knicks on Jan. 29 where he contributed a big chunk of the Hornets' offense in a 113-92 loss.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, Miller's success on the court has not resulted in many wins for Charlotte this season. The Hornets hold an abysmal 10-36 record and are about 10 games behind even play-in game contention. Charlotte won just two games in January, one more than the team won in December.

With the trade deadline approaching, the Hornets will hopefully look to add players or draft picks that can help the team build around Miller, LaMelo Ball, and others in the future.
