CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets were involved in a three-team trade that sent a former first-round draft pick their way.
Guard Josh Green is headed to Charlotte from the Dallas Mavericks, who are acquiring Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors. The full details of what the Hornets are giving away to acquire Green have not been released.
Green has played all four years of his career with the Mavericks after being chosen in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. In the 2023-24 season, Green averaged 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game with Dallas as the Mavericks won the Western Conference Finals.
Green's presence will mostly be felt on the Hornets' defensive side of the ball.
The Hornets are continuing to make moves in the first offseason of the Charles Lee era. Lee was introduced as the Hornets' new head coach last Tuesday and drafted Tidjane Salaün and KJ Simpson in the following days.
