Hornets' flat 4Q leads to loss against lowly Pistons

The Pistons now hold a 5-39 record. Two of Detroit's five wins have come against the Hornets.

DETROIT — Bojan Bogdanovic scored 34 points as the Detroit Pistons won just their fifth game of the season in a tightly contested game against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets led 106-103 (10-32) with two minutes left in the game before the Pistons (5-39) went on a 10-0 run to secure the 113-106 win. Two of Detroit's five wins this season have come against the Hornets.

Charlotte and Detroit stayed even the entire game. The largest lead of the game was just an eight-point advantage the Pistons briefly held in the third quarter.

The game sat tied 52-52 at halftime and stayed close after a huge third quarter from both teams. Charlotte put in just its third 40-point quarter of the season to open the second half to lead by three heading into the final period.

Scoring slowed down in the fourth quarter, especially for the Hornets. Charlotte put up just 14 points in the fourth quarter after a flurry of bad shots, turnovers, and fouls.

LaMelo Ball had an abysmal fourth quarter. He missed all five of his shots in the period and produced turnovers and fouls in the final minute of the game that could have changed the final result. Ball had just 17 points in Tuesday's game, his lowest total in a game since November.

The Hornets were led by rookie Brandon Miller with 23 points. Nick Richards followed with a career-high 21 points.

Charlotte's next game is against the Houston Rockets (20-22) at home.
