Bouknight was arrested on Oct. 16, 2022 after he was found intoxicated and unconscious in his car in a Charlotte parking deck, police said at the time. Bouknight had a gun in his hand and refused to comply with officers before crashing into two police cars, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

He was given a $2,500 bond for his DWI charge and was released from Mecklenburg County jail shortly after his arrest.

Bouknight has other court cases regarding reckless driving and other traffic violations in Mecklenburg County that are ongoing.

Bouknight was drafted in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft by the Hornets. He played three seasons with the Hornets before he was released in February. Bouknight appeared in 79 games for Charlotte and averaged just 4.8 points per game.
