Probation violation charges dropped against Hornets' forward Miles Bridges

Miles Bridges pleaded no contest to domestic violence charges in November 2022 and received a three-year probation sentence.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges had four charges dropped relating to a domestic violence probation violation.

Bridges' cases were dismissed in Mecklenburg County on Tuesday. He was facing two charges of violating a domestic violence protective order, and one charge of child abuse and injury to personal property.

Three of the charges stem from an incident from October 2023 where Bridges was accused of smashing the windshield of a car belonging to the mother of his children. Bridges was given a three-year probation after pleading no contest to a domestic violence charge with the woman.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers said the woman was with her children in her car when their car was damaged, according to Tuesday's dismissal. She initially told police that another woman at her home caused the damage to the car but later told officers that Bridges did it.

The woman later told prosecutors she was unsure who caused the damage, according to the dismissal.

Due to a lack of evidence, the charges in the case were dropped, according to the dismissal.

The other domestic violence protective order violation charge was from a separate case where Bridges was accused of contacting the victim from the domestic violence case on social media. However, she told prosecutors that she no longer has these messages or can remember what they were. The case was dismissed for a lack of evidence, according to the dismissal.

Bridges has been one of the Hornets' best players this season. He's averaged 21.6 points per game, only second on the team behind LaMelo Ball (23.9), who has missed over 30 games due to injuries this season.

Charlotte (12-41) has had an abysmal season but has pulled off back-to-back wins since acquiring five players at the trade deadline.
