The Los Angeles Angels.
The St. Louis Cardinals.
They're big names now but where did they come from?
Once upon a time, as you may remember, the Charlotte Hornets went by another name. Rumor has it, then owner Bob Johnson named the team after himself:
"… thus stealing the thunder of the NBA's expansion Charlotte Bobcats, whose original owner was named "Bob," hence "Bobcats," though no official correlation was ever made. Yeeeeeah, and Michael Jordan's Wizards comeback was a good idea," writes For the Win's Chris Chase.
