CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wake Forest University announced Wednesday that the school will play Notre Dame in Charlotte on September 26, 2020.
The announcement was made by Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman at Bank of America Stadium, along with Charlotte Sports Foundation executive director Will Webb.
“We have a lot of alumni in the Charlotte area and we brought 20,000 people with us when we played in the bowl game in 2007,” said Wellman. “We will still have six games in our home stadium in 2020 and this is a great opportunity for us to play in an NFL stadium. Notre Dame has a strong following and when you look at both teams, this could be a very good game.”
The schools have met on the gridiron three times, with Notre Dame holding a 3-0 edge in the series. The Irish hosted Wake Forest in 2012 and 2015. Notre Dame visited Wake back in 2011, winning 24-17.
