5 things you need to know about new Panther, Christian McCaffrey

CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Panthers selected Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey 8th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday night.

Here are 5 things you NEED to know about the newest Panthers.

1. His father, Ed McCaffrey, played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Giants, 49ers, and most notably, the Denver Broncos. He caught 55 career touchdown passes and won three Super Bowls.

2. His grandfather, Dave Sime, won a silver medal in the 100m dash in the 1960 Olympics, and held several sprinting records in the 1950s.Christian is pretty fast, too. His high school 4x200 team still holds the Colorado state record.

3. He plays the harmonica.

4. He broke the NCAA record for All-Purpose yards in a single season -- previously held by Barry Sanders -- as a sophomore in 2015. His record stands at 3,864 yards.

5. He went on a mission trip to Rwanda in 2013.
