CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have lost another key player due to injury.
Center Austin Corbett will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a ruptured biceps tendon in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears.
Corbett suffered significant injuries in the previous two seasons as well. In 2022, Corbett tore his ACL in the regular season finale, and in 2023, Corbett tore his MCL. He missed a total of 13 games because of the latter injury.
Brady Christensen will step up in replacement of Corbett. Christensen suffered a season-ending injury in the opening game of 2023, which allowed Corbett to step into the center role. Corbett had previously played primarily at right guard.
Corbett is a seven-year NFL veteran, with previous stints with the Rams and Browns.
The Panthers have already lost defensive end Derrick Brown and linebacker Shaq Thompson for the year. Receiver Adam Thielen, cornerback Dane Jackson, and safety Sam Franklin Jr. are on injured reserve but could return sometime this year.
Carolina (1-4) faces the Atlanta Falcons (3-2) on Sunday. It's the first divisional game for the Panthers this season.
