DENVER — Another player on the Carolina Panthers defense has suffered an injury.
Linebacker DJ Johnson suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of Carolina's matchup with the Denver Broncos on Sunday. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game, according to team officials.
Johnson is in his second season with the Panthers. He was drafted in the third round of the 2023 draft. Carolina traded to get the 80th pick in the draft, which was used to acquire Johnson.
Johnson has appeared in all eight Panthers games this year but has made just one start. He's recorded 0.5 sacks and contributed to 25 tackles this season.
Carolina's defense has been decimated by injuries in 2024. Defensive end Derrick Brown, linebacker Shaq Thompson, cornerback Anthony Brown, and safety Sam Franklin Jr. are just a few of the names of the Panthers defense who have missed time with injuries.
