30 seasons: Panthers jersey schedules follow a familiar trend

The Panthers jerseys will feature a 30th-anniversary patch during the season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers are just one week away from the 2024 regular season, and now fans know what jerseys the team will take the field with throughout the year.

The Panthers released the team's jersey schedule for the 18 regular season games this year. As with every year since 2001, the Panthers' white jerseys will be most used. Carolina will wear white 11 times in the 2024 season. The team's black jerseys will be worn four times and the blue jerseys will be worn twice. Black and blue will only be worn at home games.

Carolina's first five games will feature the team in white -- two home games and three away games. Blue's first appearance comes in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons. Black's first appearance is against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.

The Panthers will wear white in all eight away games this season. The only time the team will wear white in the second half of the season is in Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The only other appearance for the blue jersey comes against the New York Giants in Week 10. Black will be worn in weeks 12, 13, and 16.

On schedule

The team's uniforms have made little changes since the team's inception. Minor color adjustments and stripe changes are some of the only differences implemented over the preceding three decades.

Carolina's biggest uniform update came when the team altered its logo in 2012, but the jerseys stayed unchanged even then. Panthers fans in 1995 saw almost identical black and white jerseys to what the Panthers will wear in 2024.

One of the few major jersey additions came in 2002 when the Panthers introduced a blue alternate jersey typically worn at one to three games a year. No other alternate jerseys have been worn in the Panthers' history. However, the Panthers added a black alternate helmet in 2022 that is worn once a year in an all-black ensemble.

The Panthers' white jerseys are worn at least eight times every season, with a bulk of these appearances being in away games. Carolina traditionally wears white at home during the first half of the season before switching to darker colors later in the year for weather reasons.

White jerseys have only appeared at home in the regular season once after Week 9. The Panthers wore white at home against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 of the 2005 regular season. A rare late-season home appearance for the Panthers' white jerseys will happen again in 2024 when Carolina faces the Cowboys in Week 15.

The Panthers also wore white jerseys late in the season during five home playoff games -- wild card round (1996, 2003, 2014), divisional round (2015), and NFC Championship (2015).

While dark-colored jerseys are typically shelved until November for the Panthers, they have sometimes debuted earlier in the year.

The Panthers opened the 2000 season wearing black jerseys in an away game against Washington. Blue jerseys were worn to open the 2012 and 2015 seasons on the road -- Both games were notably played against Florida teams (Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

The earliest the Panthers have worn a dark-colored jersey at home is Week 2, which the Panthers did in 2019 against the Buccaneers. The Panthers wore black at home in a Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers, which is the earliest appearance of black for the team.

Jersey records

The Panthers hold a 122-143-1 (.459) record when wearing white jerseys in regular-season play, which matches the team's all-time regular-season winning percentage.

Carolina is 72-85 when wearing black jerseys. The Panthers went 5-0 wearing black in 2018 but posted a 7-26 color with the jersey the last five seasons, sinking the jersey color to a losing record.

Blue jerseys are the most successful for the Panthers all-time, albeit still with a losing record. The Panthers are 20-23 when they wear blue jerseys.
