CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers will interview their own defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero, for their open head coaching position.
Evero joined the franchise in 2023 as coordinator for head coach Frank Reich, after interviewing for the top spot then, too.
The 43-year-old's defense finished fourth in total yards, and third against the pass in 2023 despite being riddled with injuries.
Evero was Denver's defensive coordinator in 2022, and posted a top-10 defense in terms of yards allowed there as well, despite injuries, trades, and a poor overall team record.
Carolina also completed a virtual interview with Interim Coach Chris Tabor on Wednesday.
The Panthers fired Head Coach Frank Reich after going 1-10 in his first 11 games. Tabor then led the team to a 1-5 stretch, with the Panthers ultimately finishing 2-15, the worst 17-game record for a team since the NFL added a game to the schedule in 2021.
