CHARLOTTE, N.C. — David Tepper was presented with a basketball jersey Wednesday for helping West Charlotte High get to the state championship.
Before the Carolina Panthers owner stepped in, the team was going to travel to Raleigh the day of the game because they didn't have money to stay the night before.
Tepper paid for two charter buses plus hotel rooms so the players could get to the state capital well before the noon tip-off on March 16.
"It’s great to be here, and it’s great to support this team,” Tepper said at the school on Wednesday, according to the Panthers website.
When Tepper stepped on stage, he shook everyone's hand and held up the jersey.
"You guys think this will fit me?” he said.
Former Panther Julius Peppers also attended the presentation.
