PARIS, France — Flavor Flav has dominated headlines lately after becoming one of Team USA's biggest supporters at the Paris Olympics, but how exactly did Public Enemy's co-founder make it to the Summer Games?
The self-proclaimed "Greatest Hype Man in America" is bringing his expertise to the Olympics with big support for Team USA.
This all started when the rapper came across a social media post from the captain of the U.S. women's water polo team, asking for folks to support the team during the Paris Games. Flavor Flav responded by saying he wanted to sponsor the whole team. He said being a girl dad and supporting women's sports pushed him to be the team's official hype man.
Flavor Flav is now committed to the team for five years, giving an undisclosed amount of money and unlimited hype.
But he's doing more for Olympians than just cheering from the stands. He took his support a step further last week when U.S. track and field athlete Veronica Fraley said she needed help paying rent.
When Flavor Flav saw the Raleigh native's post on X, he and Reddit co-founder Alex Ohanian teamed up to cover Fraley's rent for an entire year so she could compete in Paris.
