PARIS, France — Siobhán Haughey became Hong Kong's most decorated Olympian by reaching the podium in two swimming events at the Paris Olympics.
Haughey scored a bronze medal in the women's 200-meter freestyle event on Monday and backed that up with another bronze medal in the women's 100-meter freestyle event on Wednesday. She finished with a time of 52.33 on Wednesday behind Team USA's Torri Huske, who earned the silver medal.
Haughey is the only Hong Kong Olympian to receive a swimming medal. She scored silver medals in both events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Hong Kong has earned only 13 medals in Olympic history. The nation has competed in every Olympics since the 1952 Helsinki Games, excluding 1980. Its first medal came in a sailing event at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Haughey has two more medals than the closest Hong Kong Olympians, Cheung Ka-long and Lee Wai-sze. Ka-long earned his second medal at the Paris Olympics by scoring gold in the men's fencing event.
