CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A ton of pride was on full display Saturday at Providence Day School for Team USA as the women’s field hockey team got set to head to Paris.
Red, white and blue filled the school gymnasium with tons of chants for the U.S.A.
A special moment for teammates like Amanda Hoffman who now calls the Queen City home.
"One of my favorite things about Charlotte is that it's a bigger city, but it has this small-town feel that just makes it so cozy to live here," Hoffman said.
The community joined to show their support before the U.S. field hockey team made its way to Paris.
“Everyone here is so kind and so sweet, and just, the little pockets of Charlotte area incredible," Hoffman added.
The team has been training for the Paris Olympics in Charlotte. Kelee Lepage said it's the Queen City is full of supporters for the club.
"To be sent off by the field hockey community, and just the support that they've given us throughout these three years since we've moved here, has been phenomenal," Lepage said.
This weekend's pep rally will be replayed in Lepage's mind while competing in Paris. She said one of her biggest goals is to remain positive regardless of what happens on the field.
"Gratitude is one of the things that I wrote myself on and just being grateful for the things I've been given," she said. "I feel like this was one of the moments where I just have a lot of gratitude for the people and experiences."
The team will take on Argentina in their first game on July 27.
