Ric Flair hospitalized, but injuries not ‘as grave or serious as TMZ would have us believe,’ family says

The legendary pro-wrestler is reportedly in an Atlanta-area hospital, but family disputes claims that he is seriously ill.

Wrestling legend Ric Flair was hospitalized Thursday morning after "suffering a medical emergency" in Atlanta, according to TMZ Sports.

However, in another report, Flair's son-in-law, Conrad Thompson, is quoted as saying it was a planned medical procedure and the situation "is not as grave or serious as TMZ makes it out to be."

Late Thursday afternoon, TMZ posted an update, saying it received a statement from Flair's wife, Wendy Barlow, who said she expected him to make "a full recovery."

She later updated that a planned surgery had been postponed due to complications that "needed to be taken care of first."

The last tweet on Flair's official Twitter account was made around 9:30 a.m. and was a "Throwback Thursday" photo.

Back in August 2017, Flair, 70, was hospitalized and placed in a medically-induced coma. Multiple reports said Flair had surgery on his bowels to remove an obstruction that had caused his kidneys to shut down.

Flair went on to recover and, a year later, married girlfriend Barlow. He also sued his former management company, claiming they owed him money.

Last fall, he was seen on the sidelines at a UGA football game.
