Charlotte FC fires head coach Christian Lattanzio, assistant coach Andy Quy

Lattanzio led Charlotte FC to its first playoff appearance this season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte FC is parting ways with head coach Christian Lattanzio, the club announced Wednesday morning. Assistant coach Andy Quy will also depart Charlotte FC.

Owner David Tepper issued a statement thanking Lattanzio for his work with the team. Charlotte FC said a search for the team's next head coach will begin immediately. In 63 games as Charlotte FC's head coach, Lattanzio earned 22 wins, 17 draws and 24 losses.

"We would like to thank Christian and Andy for their time at the Club," Tepper said. "They helped guide us through the last 18 months and we are all appreciative of their contributions to Charlotte FC."

Lattanzio was named head coach after the firing of Miguel Ángel Ramírez in May 2022. He coached the remainder of the 2022 season and led Charlotte FC to its first playoff appearance this season. Charlotte FC was eliminated from the playoffs by the New York Red Bulls on Oct. 25.

“We undertook an offseason evaluation of our organization and we’re confident this move is in the best interest of the Club for 2024 and beyond,” Charlotte FC President Joe LaBue said. “Our Club will continue to be ambitious and strive to progress both on and off the pitch.”
