Charlotte FC falls as Houston Dynamo FC gets first win against the black and blue

Charlotte will be back from the Lone Star State for a midweek match next.

HOUSTON — Historically, Charlotte FC has held a dominant record over Houston Dynamo FC. But Saturday ended Charlotte's win streak -- both against Houston and in matches.

All it took for Houston to win was just one goal, scored right at the beginning of the match. Midfielder Ibrahim Aliyu got an assist from forward Sebastián Ferreira to pierce Charlotte's defenses just five minutes in.

Unfortunately for the black and blue, the team couldn't answer back in the first half. Or the second. Even as stoppage time ticked on at the end, Charlotte was unable to leave the match at a draw. Houston defends its home pitch with a 1-0 win and Charlotte loses three standing points in the MLS. This also ends the black and blue's four-match winning streak.

The black and blue are back in the Queen City on Wednesday, July 3, featuring a post-match fireworks show, presented by Blue Cross NC. Charlotte's opponent is Inter Miami CF, against whom Charlotte has an even 2-1-2 record with.  Kickoff at Bank of America Stadium is at 7:30 p.m.
