Back-to-back goals from Agyemang seal Charlotte FC's shutout win against Philadelphia

The goals came during the second half, with no response from the host team.

PHILADELPHIA — Charlotte FC hit the road Saturday to take on the Philadelphia Union, and the black and blue will be coming back home with a win thanks to star forward Patrick Agyemang.

Neither Charlotte nor Philadelphia could find the net in the first 45 minutes. But that changed at the 56-minute mark post-break.

Agyemang, with an assist from full-back Jere Uronen, was able to kick it in then. And it turned out that it wouldn't be long for him to do it again.

Just seven minutes later, Agyemang found the net for the brace with an assist from fellow forward Liel Abada. The club's social media team even remarked they didn't have time to share the highlight of the first goal before Agyemang made the second one.

Philadelphia still had time to respond to both goals with about 35 minutes left on the clock with stoppage factored in. But the Union didn't have an answer. Charlotte FC shut out the hosts 2-0 to add three more points to the MLS standings and take home its fourth-straight win.

The black and blue will hit the road again next week to take on Houston Dynamo FC in Texas. Kickoff on June 29 is at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.

Charlotte will aim to defend its winning record against Houston. In both previous meetings, Charlotte emerged victorious 2-1.
