Charlotte FC, LA Galaxy spaced out after scoreless draw

Even with extra time tacked on, neither team found the net.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In soccer, it's win, lose, or draw for a match. For Charlotte FC, Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium ended in a draw against the LA Galaxy.

This draw, however, didn't exactly see the scoreboard out of this world. Rather, it didn't lift off at all.

There wasn't much action to speak of in either half. Two players from both sides of the pitch were each handed a yellow card as the first half winded down. Patrick Agyemang did get close to scoring, but the ball rolled past the goalposts.

After the break, Brandt Bronico also had a close encounter of the scoring kind, albeit without the scoring. The real action happened at Charlotte's goalposts, where keeper Krisijan Kahlina guarded against the Galaxy.

Bronico would get the final yellow card of the night, and neither the black and blue nor the visitors from out of this town could score. Both teams ended up scoreless in Charlotte, but also with one point each added to their MLS standings.

Charlotte FC won't need to phone home for next week's match, as Bank of America Stadium welcomes the Philadelphia Union. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. It's also Military Appreciation Night, allowing fans and the teams to honor those who served.

Philadelphia currently leads the record against Charlotte historically with two wins as opposed to one, plus a draw shared between them. Charlotte FC will seek to repeat a blowout home win against the Union from 2022, which saw Charlotte dominate with four unanswered goals.

The draw shared between both teams happened when they last met in Charlotte in September 2023.
