Two Rock Hill parking decks will soon go gateless. Here's how you'll pay for parking

Instead of stopping to pay for parking, cameras will instead be used as a digital solution for two decks at University Center.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — There's a new way to pay for parking in Rock Hill, and it doesn't involve paying at the gate.

That's mainly because there won't be a gate at two parking decks in town. So how do you pay?

The City of Rock Hill has partnered with Premium Parking to use a digital solution for paid parking access at University Center. Decks A & B will feature contactless options using CameraPay or TextPay and don't require downloading Premium Parking's app. With CameraPay specifically, anyone with a smartphone can scan a QR code to start parking.

New digital signage from Parking Logix will also show drivers how many spots are available to the public. The Rock Hill Parking Guide, which is coming soon, will also feature this information.

For the latest breaking news, weather and traffic alerts, download the WCNC Charlotte mobile app.

Additionally, the garages will use license plate reader cameras for 24/7 photo enforcement. Premium Parking's website notes this can be used to check for active parking permits or to easily mail fines as needed.

The app still remains an option, and it's a free download for both iOS and Android users. The city claims this makes it easier to pay, get alerts before parking time expires, and allows customers to extend their time from anywhere. The city notes 85% of users at Premium Parking garages pay via mobile, and the app supports using Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Beyond regular customers, Rock Hill businesses can also sign up to issue Cloud Permits for their cars via a parking license agreement with the city. This enables residents and garage users fast, easy access. Businesses and merchants can offer parking plans for employees, or even validated or discounted parking for customers.

You can stream WCNC Charlotte on Roku and Amazon Fire TV, just download the free app.

Businesses interested in setting up such plans can call Rock Hill's Parking Division at 803-329-7275 or send an email to parking.services@cityofrockhill.com.
