CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people have died and two others were injured after a crash at Park Road and Arbor Pointe Drive around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, near South Mecklenburg High School.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said officers at the scene found a Jeep Wrangler and a Honda Pilot with extensive damage.
The driver of the Jeep died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Honda and the juvenile in the backseat were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The front-seat passenger of the Honda was taken to the hospital, where she died due to her injuries.
Police said the investigation indicates the driver of the Jeep, identified as 36-year-old Teresa Marie Miller was speeding while driving north on Park Road and lost control, crossing into the southbound lanes and striking the Honda. After the collision, police said the Jeep continued off the side of the toad and struck a tree.
The front-seat passenger of the Honda, who died at the hospital, has been identified as 49-year-old Rosalina Santos.
CMPD says detectives believe excessive speed and impairment by the driver of the Jeep were contributing factors. The driver of the Honda was ruled not to have been impaired.
CMPD is asking any person with information about this case to call Detective Kupfer at 704-432-2169, extension 1.
