2 seriously hurt in west Charlotte crash, Medic says

Two people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash at the intersection of Wilkinson and West Morehead Street Tuesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were seriously hurt in a crash in west Charlotte Tuesday morning, officials said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a reported crash at the intersection of Wilkinson Boulevard and West Morehead Street around 5 a.m. CMPD said the crash involved three vehicles, with one of the cars flipping onto its roof. One of the vehicles involved hit a pole, taking down power lines.

Medic confirmed that two people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The outbound lanes of Wilkinson Boulevard are shut down from West Morehead Street to Remount Road. It's unclear when the road will reopen.

Duke Energy was called to the scene and crews are working to get the pole replaced and power lines off the road. No power outages were reported in the area as a result of the crash, according to the Duke Energy outage map
