HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A stretch of Beatties Ford Road is closed in Huntersville after a tree took down power lines, Duke Energy said.
The tree fell along Beatties Ford near Hambright Road and McCoy Road, not far from Hopewell High School, around 7 a.m. Duke Energy said the tree broke the cross arm of a utility pole, knocking down five spans of power lines in the area. The utility's outage map showed around 250 people without power of as 8:45 a.m.
By 10 a.m., one lane was open with traffic moving in both directions. A flagger was on site directing traffic through the area.
Duke estimates it could be around 2 p.m. before crews are finished.
