Boone police seeking witnesses in deadly hit-and-run

Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward immediately.

BOONE, N.C. — Boone police are asking for the public's help identifying the driver in a deadly hit-and-run in September.

Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Deerfield Road and Blairmont Drive on the evening of Sept. 28. When first responders arrived, they found 48-year-old Terry Turbyfill suffering from life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle. Turbyfill was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Boone detectives are asking anyone who was in the area from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., but especially between 6:45 and 7:30, to contact investigators. Detectives haven't released any suspect information and it's unclear what kind of vehicle was involved in the crash at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Delaney at 828-268-6929 as soon as possible.
