CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three people were seriously injured in a crash involving a CATS bus and garbage truck in Charlotte's South End early Tuesday morning, officials said.
Medic responded to a crash at the intersection of South Tryon Street and Clanton Road around 6 a.m. According to Medic, one person was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two others were taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
First responders closed the intersection at South Tryon and Clanton to clear the scene and investigate the crash. The road isn't expected to reopen until at least 8:30 a.m.
CATS released the following statement regarding this crash:
CATS bus routes may experience delays systemwide due to an accident involving a bus near the bus operations division office at Tryon and Clanton. Medic and CMPD have responded to the scene. CMPD will be conducting the investigation.
