CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries after a stolen truck crashed into a Charlotte church Friday morning, police said.
The crash happened at Bible Presbyterian Church on Rumple Road, just off North Graham Street near University City Boulevard.
The two people involved in the crash had stolen the truck from a driver on Tom Hunter Road around 3 a.m., according to a report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The pair hit the driver in the face, took his keys and drove away with his truck, the report states.
They were arrested after fleeing a traffic stop and crashing into the church. Their charges include: simple assault, felony larceny of vehicle, common law robbery and drug possession.
Medic confirmed the two people who were hurt had serious injuries.
A WCNC Charlotte crew at the scene noted as of 6:30 a.m., no roads were blocked due to the crash.
