All lanes are reopened on I-77 S near Sunset Road after fatal crash

One person is dead and another is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a crash late Friday afternoon, Medic says.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of I-77 S near Sunset Road have reopened hours after a crash that killed one person and left another with life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened late Friday afternoon, shortly before 5 p.m. on I-77 S near mile marker 15 in north Charlotte, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. 

The crash killed one person and left another person suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The traffic impact of the crash was high as it happened during rush hour on Friday afternoon.

The road reopened around 8 p.m. Friday.

The identity of the victim is unknown at this time. WCNC Charlotte has reached out for more information about the incident and will continue to provide updates as new information is released.
