CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was hurt in a crash involving a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police cruiser near Uptown Charlotte on Friday, officials confirmed.
The crash happened at the intersection of West Fifth Street and West Seventh Street in northwest Charlotte around 11:30 a.m. Friday. The crash is just north of where West Fifth Street intersects with Interstate 77.
One person was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, according to Medic. Medic originally said no officers were involved in the crash, but CMPD later clarified a CMPD officer was driving the patrol car.
CMPD hasn't given any further details on the wreck.
The CMPD cruiser had heavy damage on the right front corner and another vehicle was flipped over in the intersection. It's unclear what led to the crash at this time. Multiple CMPD officers were on the scene investigating the collision.
