3 students injured in minor CMS bus crash

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said the kids were evaluated "out of an abundance of caution."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three North Mecklenburg High School students were evaluated for their injuries after two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools buses hit each other Friday afternoon.

The crash happened on Statesville Road near the intersection of West WT Harris Boulevard when bus 1723 hit bus 1850.

Neither bus reported damage after the incident, according to CMS.

A CMS spokesperson said the students were evaluated by Medic "out of an abundance of caution."

The school district sent another bus to take the students on the buses to their locations.

"As always, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority," CMS said in a statement to WCNC Charlotte.

It is not known at this time what happened to lead to the wreck.
