CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes have reopened after a crash on I-85 northbound at Beatties Ford Road shut down all lanes and the exit 13 ramp Wednesday afternoon. The crash happened near the I-85 and I-77 interchange and mile marker 13.
Medic initially said one person had been transferred to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and others may also be injured. Later, Medic confirmed four patients in total were taken from the scene. Two had minor injuries, one person had life-threatening injuries, and one person had serious injuries.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use caution.
An alternate route involved taking Brookshire Freeway to I-77N.
Another crash was also reported along I-77 northbound, which involved a CATS paratransit bus. The agency told WCNC Charlotte the bus was stopped safely on the shoulder with hazard lights on after facing a flat tire. The bus, however, was rear-ended by another passing vehicle.
While neither the passengers nor the driver on board were hurt, CATS and Medic confirmed a person from the passing car was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. CATS also said another paratransit bus was sent to the scene to get passengers back on their journeys.
