1 person dead after crash at Remount Road and Baltimore Avenue, Medic says

The cause of the crash has not yet been made public.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person has died after a crash near Remount Road and Baltimore Avenue, according to Medic. It happened around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

According to CMPD, officers noticed a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320 had run off the roadway and struck 2 trees. Medic arrived and pronounced the driver, 41-year-old Diana Marie Douglas, dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation shows the Mercedes Benz was traveling southeast on Remount Road when Douglas lost control, ran off the right side of the road and struck two trees. Officials believe Douglas was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Excessive speed appears to be a factor in this crash, and it is unknown if impairment is a factor. Toxicology results are pending.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about this case is asked to call Detective Worthy at (704) 432-2169, extension 4.  The public can also leave information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600 or http://charlottecrimestoppers.com/.
