Deadly crash causes delays on I-485 in southwest Charlotte

The crash happened near Sandy Porter Road on the Inner Loop of I-485.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a crash on the inner loop of Interstate 485 in southwest Charlotte on Monday, Medic said. 

The crash happened on the inner loop near Exit 4 for Steele Creek Road. According to NCDOT, two of four lanes are closed on I-485. Drivers can expect delays in the area through Monday morning's commute. Anyone heading to the airport from south Charlotte should use an alternate route to avoid further delays on I-485. 

As of 8:30 a.m., NCDOT says drivers can expect delays up to an hour on the inner loop. Officials haven't said what caused the crash at this time.
