CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 485 in northeast Charlotte on Thursday, Medic confirmed.
The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on the I-485 inner loop near Exit 33, which is for North Carolina 49. At one point, traffic on the inner loop was backed up to North Tryon Street/U.S. 29.
As of 7:45 a.m., only the shoulder was blocked with traffic moving through the area. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were on the scene investigating the crash. Charlotte Fire Department crews were also assisting, with firefighters searching an area of the woods alongside the highway.
Officials haven't identified the person who was killed or announced what caused the crash.
